California Legal Document Preparation Service FAQs

At San Diego Esquire, we proudly provide legal document preparation services to California residents. Throughout the past year, we have received several questions relating to our services. Below are answers to frequently asked questions we receive. Contact us at if you have a question about our service before placing an order.

1. Does San Diego Esquire provide legal advice to all customers?

No. You must sign an attorney-client agreement to receive legal advice from us. We only provide legal advice when such an agreement has been executed to form an attorney-client relationship.

2. Are your services refundable?

Yes. Please review our 100% money back guarantee policy for more information.

3. Can I retain an attorney after purchasing your legal document preparation service?

Yes. Contact us to find out more about the legal representation services we provide.

4. What is the difference between a legal document preparer and an attorney?

Legal document preparers, also known as legal document assistants, draft legal documents to file with the court.  LDAs cannot provide consumers with legal advice. San Diego Esquire provides standard legal document preparation or attorney-led legal document preparation service. For the former service, your documents will be prepared without legal advice and guidance. For the later service, you can consult with an attorney who will provide you with legal advice in regards to your legal matter and completed documents.

Our attorney led service requires an attorney-client agreement. If you do not receive a signed agreement from San Diego Esquire, and attorney-client relationship has not been formed. Contact us at for more information.

5. How does the process work?

After you sign up for our service, you will receive an order confirmation. We will review the information provided and send a subsequent email detailing whether we need any additional information. Once we receive all of the required information to complete the forms, you will receive completed forms within 3 to 5 business days. Please allow enough time for us to draft the documents you need before your court filing deadline approaches. Our services are not recommended for “Pro Se” litigants who have less than 5 court days to respond to an pleading/motion.

6. How long will it take for me to receive my documents?

You will receive your completed documents via email within 3 to 5 business days after all questionnaires and all necessary information is received. There will be delays in completing the ordered documents if all necessary information is not provided in a timely manner.

7. After I receive my documents, what happens next?

We will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to file your documents with the local court clerk. All “Pro Se” customers are required to manage all aspects of their case. We provide case management services for an additional fee.
